
Employees at two Starbucks shops in Santa Cruz have unionized, changing into the primary shops in California to hitch the ballooning ranks of the espresso large’s organized baristas and shift supervisors.
Employees at each Santa Cruz shops voted overwhelmingly in favor of becoming a member of the nationwide union, referred to as Employees United. 13 employees on the retailer by the intersection of Ocean and Water streets voted in favor of the union, with one voting towards. On the retailer on Mission and Dufour, 15 voted for and two towards.
The wins, tallied Tuesday, have added to the momentum of a union marketing campaign that went public in late August and reversed a long time of failed makes an attempt to type unions at Starbucks. They arrive as employees at effectively over 200 Starbucks shops have filed petitions for union elections and greater than 50 shops have voted to hitch the nationwide union Employees United since December.
