JetBlue Airways and Spirit Airways introduced Thursday that that they had agreed to a merger, a day after a long-running bid for Spirit by Frontier Airways fell aside.
Underneath the settlement, JetBlue would purchase Spirit for $33.50 per share in money, considerably greater than Spirit’s closing worth of $24.30 on Wednesday. The deal values Spirit at about $3.8 billion.
The mixture would create the fifth-largest service in the US. However it’s more likely to face antitrust scrutiny from the federal authorities.
